Meet Our Staff

  • Destiny M
    Veterinary Technician

Destiny was born and raised in California and became a registered veterinary technician after graduating from Carrington College California in 2011.  She now resides in Wichita with her husband, Colton, step-daughter, Adrien, and three dogs, Rico, Dodger, and Lilly.  While Destiny enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, she has a particular interest in anesthesia and emergency medicine.  She also likes caring for exotic animals, including her pet rats - which are trained to fetch the paper!

  • Michell S
    Veterinary Technician

Michell is a registered veterinary technician who joined our team in April 2019.  She attended Penn Poster College and graduated in 2014 with a veterinary technology degree.  She is an advocate for homeless animals and has a special place in her heart for senior pets, especially her own!  Michell has 5 furry canine babies - Anna, Heidi, Ellie, Max, and Stanley - that she and her husband share a home with.   They are an active family and love to camp, run, bike, and work-out whenever they can.

  • Kayla C
    Client Care Coordinator

Kayla is a small town girl hailing from Clearwater, KS.  She always loved animals as a child, but she developed a special love for horses after learning to ride.  Now, Kayla works on breaking and training colts when she has time and perfecting her barrel racing skills on her horse, Bling.  She shares her home with her husband, Tyler, and their 3 dogs and 5 chickens.  When not caring for the menagerie of pets, Kayla can be found reading a good book or cooking up a delicious dish for everyone.

  • Michelle (Micky) S
    Veterinary Technician

Micky has been working in the veterinary field for 13 years and brings a wealth of experience to Oakcrest Pet Hospital.  Her favorite aspect of veterinary medicine is performing dental cleanings on pets.  She says, 'There is nothing better than scaling tartar and seeing the teeth become white again!'  Micky has a soft spot for pets with special needs and has always been dedicated to giving these pets the best lives possible.  In fact, she currently cares for her own cat, Beatle, who is completely blind.  While Beatle does well finding his way around the apartment, Micky has worked on training him and making the place more accommodating to his needs.

  • Sonya A
    Client Service Representative

Sonya joined the team at Oakcrest Pet Hospital in 2020 as a client service representative.  She worked on the human side of medicine for many years before deciding to switch to veterinary medicine because of her love for animals.  She says, 'I love the daily interaction with the pets and their owners.'  Shortly before joining the team, Sonya married her husband, Andres, after a 16-year long engagement!  Together they have 2 sons and 3 shih tzus - Coco, LeeLuu, and Oso.  Sonya keeps busy with her family, shuffling around to soccer games, cooking up new dishes, and rooting on the family's favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys.

  • Ashley A
    Kennel Manager

Ashley's natural way with animals was apparent on her first day of work, as her gentle nature and calm voice put all the boarding pets at ease.  It didn't take long for Ashley to transition into the kennel manager and eventually oversee doggie daycare at Oakcrest Pet Hospital.  Her dedication and personal touch with the pets at Oakcrest is appreciated by all.  When not caring for the pets at the hospital, she loves spending time with her fiancé, Paden, and handsome dog, Mac, and dreaming about future trips to Iceland and Ireland.

  • Sarah W
    Veterinary Technician

Sarah grew up in Nova Scotia, Canada, but her adventurous side led her to the United States as an adult.  She met her husband, Carter, while living in the US and married him in October 2020 with a small Zoom ceremony in their home.  Together, they enjoy playing video games and caring for their 3 dogs - Mickey, Layla, and Hunter.  While Sarah's main passion is caring for animals, she also has an artistic side to her.  She loves sewing and creating new costumes, especially for Cosplay, and catching the latest episodes in chibi animation.

  • Bethany C
    Client Service Representative

Bethany has always had a big heart.  For many years, she volunteered her time with animal rescue organizations, including WAAL and KHS.  Her caring and helpful nature made her the perfect fit as a client service representative at Oakcrest Pet Hospital.  While Bethany loves all animals, she has a special love for pocket pets, as she has 4 rabbits and 6 hamsters of her own (on top of owning 2 dogs)!  When not caring for her own critters, Bethany enjoys scrapbooking, spending time with her family in Oklahoma, and planning her wedding which takes place next year on Halloween!

  • Joanna M
    Veterinary Technician

Joanna discovered her love for animals as a child when she saved an abandoned dog on a busy road.  She said, 'It was in that moment that I knew I wanted to spend my life helping animals.'  After completing some college in El Paso, TX, Joanna decided to move to Wichita to be closer to family and finish her schooling for a veterinary technology degree.  She joined the team at Oakcrest Pet Hospital and is currently in the process of finishing her degree.  Joanna is excited about her future as she recently got engaged to her fiancé, Nick, and purchased her first home.  She also welcomed her first puppy, Sid, and is awaiting another addition - a golden retriever named Marcel!

  • Natalie G
    Veterinary Technician

Natalie's love for animals started at an early age when she asked her parents for a cow on her third birthday.  They refused to give her one and she couldn't understand why!  Years later, she was able to talk them into a pet, but she had to settle for a dog instead.  Now Natalie gets to see all kinds of animals as she works as a veterinary technician at Oakcrest Pet Hospital.  She joined the team after moving to Wichita from El Paso, TX.  She is still getting used to the cooler temperatures in Kansas, but she said she has enjoyed all the new experiences here, including getting a new dog named Marvin!

  • Brianna R
    Kennel Attendant

Brianna is a senior at Bishop Carroll High School, and she plans on pursuing veterinary medicine as a career.  She was drawn to animals at an early age and took a special interest in science and medicine while in school.  She decided to get some experience working with animals by joining the team at Oakcrest Pet Hospital.  Once she graduates from high school, Brianna will attend Butler County Community College on a soccer scholarship and then transfer to Kansas State University to attend veterinary school.

  • Haylee W
    Kennel Attendant

Haylee grew up in a military family and lived in different parts of Nebraska and Kansas.  She graduated from Andover Central High School and decided to pursue her secondary education at Wichita State University.  She is now studying history at the university with a goal of teaching at the college level in the future.  She works part time at Oakcrest Pet Hospital as a kennel attendant, caring for boarding and daycare pets.  When Haylee is not busy working or studying,  she enjoys spending time with her boyfriend, Hiro, and chow chow, Dee.
